Retail options are slowly but surely expanding in Detroit. We expect New Center will be home to many of those options in the coming years. Two local clothing stores—YAMA and the flagship for the Peacock Room—will officially open on Small Business Saturday November 25.
Before that, both stores will open for special preview events. On Monday, November 20, the Peacock Room will host a “State of the City: Women and Children in Detroit” panel, which will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation and Enough SAID.

On November 21, YAMA’s preview event will benefit THAW, The Heat and Warmth Fund, providing utility assistance for Detroit residents in need. The benefit runs from 6 to 9 p.m., and tickets for this opening benefit are $50.
