
Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP)
“Please read all information before applying for assistance. Applying for assistance through the MEAP program has changed and eligibility made easier. Changes include no longer needing an approved State Emergency Relief decision letter to qualify.
Eligibility Requirements:
*Must be at or below 60% of the State Median Income (see chart below).
*If enrolled in other State of Michigan Programs (i.e. SNAP, FAP, FIP, TANF, WIC, Head Start, SSI) or received a Home Heating Credit you are eligible for MEAP benefits.
*Proof of ID, Social Security Card, and Income.
* Falling behind on your App Plan; LSP, MAP, CARE, or UPPCO payment plan or need one time assistance.
*We encourage applicants with an energy bill over $2500.00 to apply for the State Emergency Relief program through the Michigan Department of Health in Human Service prior to applying with THAW.
