June 20, 2026 THAW Welcomes Katrina McCree as Chief Executive Officer

A respected nonprofit executive and community leader with more than 30 years of experience, Katrina brings a deep commitment to serving Michigan families and strengthening communities across the state.
Her appointment represents a powerful full-circle moment. Years ago, Katrina’s family received assistance from THAW during a difficult time, an experience that inspired a lifelong commitment to helping others overcome barriers and achieve stability. Today, she returns to the organization that once helped her family, ready to lead THAW into its next chapter of impact and growth.
McCree brings three decades of executive leadership experience across healthcare, housing, community development, operations, program administration, and strategic partnerships. Most recently, she served as Chief Community Impact Officer at Neighborhood Service Organization, where she secured more than $8 million in funding and advanced major initiatives supporting vulnerable populations. Her background also includes leadership roles at the Detroit Medical Center.
Under Katrina’s leadership, THAW will continue to expand access to utility assistance, strengthen partnerships, increase energy affordability programs, and connect families to critical resources that promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
“THAW is more than emergency assistance—it’s a bridge to stability and dignity,” said McCree. “I know firsthand what it means when support arrives at the right moment. My goal is to ensure every Michigan family has access to that same lifeline and a pathway forward.”
For nearly 40 years, THAW has helped keep Michigan families safe, warm, and connected. We are excited about the future and the opportunities ahead as we continue our mission of serving vulnerable households in all 83 Michigan counties.
Please join us in welcoming Katrina McCree to THAW.
