Human Resources Manager

Classification:  Full-time employment  *  Reports to:  Chief of Staff

Position Summary: The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct THAW’s HR
function partnering with the leadership team to execute the
organization’s goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include: Recruitment, onboarding, employee and union
relations, HRIS/payroll processing, benefit and compensation
administration, performance management, supervisory training, policy
creation and implementation, HR vendor management, compliance,
audit and safety coordination.

Essential Functions: In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing a wide range of communication strategies to elevate THAW’s brand and mission. Your key responsibilities will include:

  •  Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s
    human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future
    talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  •  Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training,
    initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance
    and strategy needs.
  • Administers human resource programs including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance
    and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health
    and safety; and training and development.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment,
    interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental
    managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports
    and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS)
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes
    competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts
    and retains top talent.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal
    development opportunities for employees.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local
    employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and
    modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new
    technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as required

    grievance procedures, and union dues, while maintaining positive labor management relationships.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (Paychex)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
    required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of progressive human resource management experience
    required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  •  Relevant experience in nonprofit, human services, or utilities industry a plus.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, including Excel

 

Physical Requirements*

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • THAW will make reasonable accommodations necessary to comply with the ADA
    regulations.

Travel Requirements
Some local travel related may be required. The employee must have the use of
reliable transportation with applicable auto insurance along with a driver’s license if
driving on company business.
